My Story

I love to teach, and I love to play the piano.  If you put those two things together, you get the best job ever!  I began taking piano lessons when I was just a little girl.  I loved it.  When I turned 14, I started teaching piano to the younger neighbor kids.  I loved creating their lessons and all of the materials I needed.  This was back in the old days, before Pinterest and most computers, so I had to create everything on my own.  Word got out, and before I knew it, I had my own studio! I have now been teaching piano for almost 30 years, and I’ve been privileged to see so many students discover their natural skills and abilities.  During many of these years, I studied the piano intensely under the tutelage of Mr. Henry Rose. I received my Associates of Arts degree with an emphasis in music from Mesa Community College in 1998, and then my Bachelor of Arts in Education from Arizona State University in 2001. I also passed the Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessment for music and have added music as an "approved area" on my teaching certificate. I am currently working towards a Master's degree in Piano Performance Pedagogy at ASU.  Over the course of my almost 40 years of playing piano, I have participated and placed in countless competitions, performed in innumerable solo recitals and performances, played for weddings and company parties, have accompanied countless choirs both for my church and for community events, taught music at Tempe Montessori School, accompanied orchestras, was in the pit orchestra for performances of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Fiddler on the Roof, and even performed Piano Concerto in D minor by Edward MacDowell with my high school orchestra.  I also taught elementary school in the public school system for two years before I had my first baby.  I taught Kindergartners and 3rd grade students. Recently, I pulled out my violin and have started taking lessons to refresh those skills. I joined the Chandler Community Orchestra and enjoyed being a violinist in that group. I am currently a member of Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), Arizona State Music Teachers Association (ASMTA), East Valley Music Teachers Association (EVMTA), and Desert Valley Music Teachers Association (DVMTA).  I am certified through Royal Conservatory of Music to teach online lessons.
