Composer Study and Listening Assignment
August - September Composer Study: Elisabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre (1665 -1729)
< Click the picture to read more about her!
Fun Facts:
Elisabeth was a child prodigy and virtuoso harpsichordist.
She was called "the marvel of our century," and favored by Louis XIV.
After her death he struck a commemorative medal in her honor in 1729. It was stamped with her portrait and the words, "I contended with the greatest of musicians." (Library of Congress, Who Was She?)

Important Stuff
Your pianist will be receiving a "concert t-shirt" this year. This will be worn to all T&G Piano Studio events except for the year end recital (studio classes, Music Marathon, etc.). I will distribute them as soon as I receive them! I'm pretty excited about them!
Our studio practice minutes goal is 20,000 minutes! We have until the end of November to earn these minutes! Track those minutes!
Now is the time to start getting into a practice routine! A student who practices consistently obviously is going to progress immensely. There are countless studies about our bodies and exercise, and how after a good workout, our bodies continue to feel those positive effects of that workout. Our brain is also a muscle. When we put it through a good workout, i.e. practicing, our brain will continue to "practice" even when we're done. The next day, we see and feel those effects. Our bodies and brains are pretty spectacular!
Student Achievements
CLick here to see our awards and achievements from 2021-2022!
Our student awards that we will be working on this year are listed below. Please note that none of these challenges are required. They are there to encourage your pianist to get the most out of their lessons with me.
Bull's Eyes - These are weekly goals we set at lessons. When met, the pianist receives a stamp on their bull's eye chart. The goal is to reach 30 bull's eyes.
Studio Practice Minutes - This is done as a studio. We set a goal for practice minutes, and if we make it together, we earn a reward.
Individual Practice Minutes - The students try to earn as many practice minutes as they can through the year. They are recognized at the end of the year for their hard work!
100 Days of Practice - The student tries to practice 100 consecutive days without missing. There is a list of alternative activities that can be done when a piano isn't present.
The Great Christmas Sight Reading Challenge - The pianist who analyzes and sight reads the most Christmas songs is the winner.
Music Theory Maniacs Club - This club is for the students who complete their entire theory book by the end of April.
Musician of the Year - This student completes their theory book, practices 5,000+ minutes for the whole year, does all of the composer and listening assignments, fills out at least one Bull's Eye chart, and attends 90%-100% Trills and Glissandos Piano Studio events.
