I really don't have a lot to say about the studio class itself, except that my pianists performed magnificently! BUT, I do have a lot to say about my pianists. This has been probably the best teaching year for me EVER! I have had some pretty amazing years, but nothing like this. It's all because of these kids. It is so fun to teach kids who want to develop their art and who want to learn new things. It is so fun to teach kids who go home and practice the things they learn in lessons. It is so fun to teach kids who improve immeasurably from the beginning of the year to the end. When I sit down and start planning lessons, whether they are for the individual pianist or they're for our studio classes or they're listening assignments or whatever, I get so excited to share them because I know this group of kids will be excited to learn them. When I hear an amazing piece performed on Pandora or Spotify, I can't wait to share it with these kids because I know they'll actually listen to the pieces and be excited about them too. I guess I'm just saying that I lucked out with the students this year. I can't wait for next year!
